Mid-Kentucky Bass Anglers-Tournament Rules-2010
“TEAMS MUST ASK FOR RULES BEFORE FISHING”___________________
Eligibility: Competitors must be 18 years or older, or accompanied by a legal guardian. All competitors must sign a waiver before entering their first tournament event. Minors (under 18 years of age) must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. All regular club competitors must be a member of Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, Bass Federation Nation, and Kentucky Federation Nation. Special tournaments open to the public are exempt. All members of Mid-Ky/alternates will need to sign a copy of the rules before they fish any tournaments.
Teams: This is a team tournament tour. No more than two people are allowed in a boat during a tournament. Competitors cannot change teams after the first tournament. Each team is allowed to name an alternate fisherman to complete the team if either regular member is unable to participate in a tournament. The alternate does not have to be named, until the tournament he/she fishes in, however, once the alternate is named, no other alternate can be named for the remainder of the season. Competitors are allowed to fish as a one man team. Since an alternate is filling in for an eligible team member, the alternate is not required to pay season dues, but must be a member of B.A.S.S. and must have proof before they can be allowed to fish as a alternate.
Registration, Launch, and End Times: All team members must register prior to each tournament scheduled launch time. No late sign-up at the ramp or on the water. If boater is late they can NOT participate in that Tournament. Entry Fees will be collected at ramp prior to 10 minutes till blastoff. The entry fee is $30 per competitor. Of this, $5 goes to the Angler of the Year Award, and $5 goes to club expenses, trophies, special events, etc. The remaining $20 will go to the pool to pay the winning teams. Payouts will be as follows: 70% for First Place and 30% for Second (does not matter the number of boats). A separate, voluntary only Big Fish pot will be offered for $5.00 per boat with 100% payback. Launch sequence will be by number of chip drew by each team. All team’s chips must be at the launch location at the specified end time. For every minute a team is late, one pound will be deducted from the total weight of that team.
Safety and Equipment: All Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife rules and regulations pertaining to sport fishing and safe boat handling must be obeyed at all times. Blatant disregard of no wake zones and other safe boating rules will result in disqualification. All boats must be legally licensed. All boats will be equipped with a working kill switch. Coast Guard approved life vests must be worn at all times that the combustion engine is running. All boats will be equipped with a working live well or cooler. Club officers, tournament director, or other appointed members will check live wells and safety equipment prior to launch. Competitors shall remain with their partners in the boat at all times during the tournament, except in the event of sickness or brief excursions for "nature calling", severe storm or other such hazard. Competitors may leave the boat to dislodge it, but only to return the boat in the direction it came from. Leaving the boat to advance it is not permitted. (In falling water conditions, a team may leave the boat to advance it only to return from water they accessed without leaving the boat.) If for any reason either or both team members decide to leave the tournament waters early, both members shall bear full responsibility for notifying a tournament official. If one team member leaves the water early, he/she may not return and resume fishing. However, his/her partner may continue fishing for the remainder of the tournament hours. In case of a breakdown, one partner may return with fish by another tournament boat while the other partner is permitted to stay with the disabled boat.
Fish and Creel Limit: There will be a five fish limit per boat. Culling must be done at the time any fish is caught over the limit. The length of the fish will be 12 inches, unless lake regulations require a larger or smaller size fish. Special limits will be announced at the launch of each tournament. Black bass only-including Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass will be allowed. Species identification will be determined by committee if challenged. Spotted Bass (Ky Bass) will be determined by Jawline behind eye. On those lakes with slot limits, one slot limit fish will be allowed per angler. All fish will be released after weigh in. All lake rules will be followed including areas marked off limits and no fishing.
Weigh In: A member of each team must be at the weigh in table within 15 minutes of the end time with the fish to be weighed. All fish will be measured with the official golden rule. Any fish measuring less than the minimum will be disqualified and will also result in the largest fish in the creel being disqualified. However, all competitors will be allowed to request a courtesy measurement. This request must be made before the official weigh in of all boats. Any short fish found in the courtesy will be released with no penalty to the competitor. Each team will be allowed to weigh one dead fish but a (4 oz.) quarter pound penalty will apply. All fish must be brought to the weigh in table in a bag or other approved container. Fish will be transferred to the official weigh in bag for official weight.
Ties: All ties for total weight will be broken by: 1st-Biggest fish in creel, 2nd-Total number of fish in creel, 3rd-Coin toss. If a tie occurs for the big fish pot, the entry fee will be split.
Equipment and Bait: Only one rod and one reel will be used by any one angler at a time. The rod and reel in use must be in the hands of the angler at all times. Reels must be spin, bait cast, or level wind. Fly rods will not be permitted. Only artificial bait will be allowed. Trolling is not permitted.
General: Unsportsmanlike behavior is unacceptable.
Any fish checked in that is obviously “doctored”, that is weighted, tail clipped, or mutilated in some obvious manner will result in a challenge.
Fishing from the bank, dock, pier, etc., is not allowed. All fishing must be from the team’s boat that started the tournament. Non fishing activities, including refueling, restroom breaks, buying snacks, or unforeseen emergency is a permissible reason to leave the boat.
If a team reports activities of another team that appears to be a violation of rules, this will result in a challenge.
Any unusual behavior reported to an officer of the club or the tournament director may result in a challenge. All challenges will be considered by a three man committee appointed by the president or tournament director. The decision of the committee will be final and binding. Interpretation of these rules will be left to the President or Tournament Director. Infractions of any rule may result in disqualification of catch.
Alcohol or other illegal (non-prescription) drugs are forbidden at any time and will result in disqualification.
